Pregnancy Massage
Massive changes happen in a woman’s body during pregnancy. These transformations occur not only on the physical level, but also occur on the mental, emotional, and even spiritual levels. Pregnancy massage is an effective way to ease physical tension and pain, relieve stress, reduce edema, lessen anxiety, lower your blood pressure, and support the physiological process of gestation. The fewer amounts of pain, stress, and anxiety during your pregnancy lead to a healthier and happier baby.
Lisa, a Licensed Massage Therapist specifically trained in pregnancy and postpartum massage along with years of training in energy work (since 1999), has the proficiency, the touch, and the intuitive knowing to provide a safe and effective massage encompassing all levels of mind, body, and spirit while focusing on your needs as the changes unfold throughout the pregnancy. Lisa’s training has provided her with adept skills in relieving physical tension, muscle cramps and spasms, back pain, and sciatica pain all with techniques that offer the least amount of stress to the body. She will help you to recognize and become aware of where and why your body is holding onto tension, emotions, or any additional stressors; while empowering you with techniques to become more relaxed and less anxious during your pregnancy. The peaceful and nurturing space present during the massage enables you to transfer emotional and physical feelings of well-being to your baby. Clients leave feeling less pain, more connected with their bodies and their babies, much more relaxed, rejuvenated, and more equipped in dealing with daily stressors.
Lisa evaluates each client on an individual basis and at each visit, assessing the changes. Your massage will be based on your needs and will include a variety of techniques suitable for each trimester. When on the massage table, you will be in a semi-reclined or side-lying position so that there is no undue stress or pressure applied to the uterine ligaments.
